The BGC barong rotation
BGC office workers tend to own two or three barong rotating through events — usually a plain jusi for routine corporate use, a hand-embroidered jusi for more formal occasions, and a higher-end piña or calado piece for the major events. Cleaning the rotation after every use keeps each piece in good condition; failing to clean after wear is the most common reason barong develop yellowing at the underarm and collar within a year.
What we clean — fabric breakdown
- Jusi — sheer machine-woven silk, the everyday formal fabric. ₱255 short-sleeve, ₱280 long-sleeve; embroidered quoted per piece after inspection.
- Jusi-lyn — synthetic-blend jusi, more durable. Same pricing.
- Piña — handwoven pineapple-leaf fiber, translucent natural ivory. Quoted per piece after inspection.
- Organza — modern barong cuts. Priced based on embellishment.
- Cocoon and Mindanao silk — heritage and designer pieces. Priced per piece.
Pressing alone if the barong is clean
If you've worn the barong only briefly and have no visible stains or perspiration zones, pressing alone may be enough. Pressing-only service is ₱180 short-sleeve / ₱205 long-sleeve and turns around in 1 to 2 days at both BGC branches. But if there's any chance of perspiration absorption or stain transfer, have it gently water-washed first — pressing locks stains in.
