Curtains hold months of accumulated air-conditioning dust, kitchen steam transfer, and the city's outside air whenever the window opens. Cleaning curtains at home almost never works — they don't fit in a residential machine, hand-washing shrinks the panels unevenly, and home drying leaves wrinkles that no amount of household ironing flattens. Wash 'n Wear has been cleaning Manila's curtains since 1993, including sheer drapes, blackout panels, lined formal curtains, and embroidered heritage pieces from family homes.

What we clean

  • Sheer curtains — cotton, polyester, voile, organza.

Our curtain process

  • Intake measurement — we note the panel size so it goes back the same dimensions.
  • Pre-treatment for water-line stains (top edge dust), grease zones near the kitchen, and any visible spots.
  • Cleaning method matched to fabric — water-wash for cotton sheers, dry clean for silk, blackout linings, and embellished pieces.
  • Drying flat or hung to prevent the wrinkles and creases that ruin a fresh curtain.
  • Pressing — pleated header pressed clean, body pressed smooth.
  • Folded ready for re-hanging or returned on a long-form hanger for the larger pieces.

Why dimensions matter

Curtains live and die by how they hang. A clean panel that returns 4 inches shorter than it started fits poorly on the original rod. We measure at intake, calibrate the wash and drying steps to prevent shrinkage, and return panels at their original dimensions. Sheer cottons are most prone to shrinkage if water-washed without care — which is why we run them through controlled commercial wash rather than residential equipment.

How often to clean curtains

For Metro Manila air conditions, every 6 to 12 months is the realistic interval. Curtains in kitchens, smoking areas, or rooms facing main roads accumulate dust and grease faster — closer to 6 months. Bedrooms and rarely-opened rooms can stretch to 12 months. The visual cue: hold the curtain up to natural light. If you see dust embedded in the weave, it's time.

Pricing

Curtains are priced by weight (December 2025 rates): dry cleaning is ₱275 per kilo for lighter and sheer fabric, and ₱450 per kilo for heavier lined and blackout panels. Washable cottons that can take water are laundered at ₱180 per kilo. Floor-to-ceiling and oversized drapes are weighed at intake. Embroidered, beaded, and heritage curtains are quoted per piece following an inspection.

Branches set up for bulk curtain orders

The larger SM and Robinsons-anchored branches — SM Megamall, SM City North, SM Fairview, SM Marikina, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Magnolia — handle curtain volume best. If you're cleaning a full household's worth of drapes (typical for an annual deep clean), these branches have the staging space and equipment capacity. Standalone branches accept curtain intake and route to the central facility.

Do you take down and re-hang the curtains?

We don't currently offer pickup-and-install service. You bring the curtains in already taken down, and re-hang them yourself after pickup. Marking hook positions with masking tape on the rod before take-down makes the re-hang quick.

What about Roman shades and decorative blinds?

Roman shades where the fabric can be detached from the mechanism are part of regular curtain work. Permanently mounted decorative blinds, motorized shades, and integrated cellular shades are outside what we can clean.
